Margaret Wise Brown is my girl crush. She was the author of over 100 books including Goodnight, Moon, The Runaway Bunny, and The Color Kittens. She was affectionately known at the "laureate of the nursery."
I am in awe of Margaret for two reasons. First, she was amazingly prolific during her very short life). Second, she was authentically herself when it wasn't in vogue for women to be authentic, powerful, or prolific.
Margaret Wise Brown was only 42 when she died of an embolism resulting from surgery for a ruptured appendix.
Rest in peace, Margaret (1910-1952).
